To support and invest in early-stage clean energy companies that have the potential to mitigate climate change and achieve attractive financial returns
CEVG believes that:
We are a group of 35 + experienced entrepreneurs, executives and investment professionals in the areas of energy, engineering, commercialization, and sustainability. We believe that investing in climate tech can provide very attractive risk-adjusted returns as well as contribute toward mitigating climate disruption. We are one of the most experienced group of start-up clean energy and climate tech investors in North America, and have helped form the clean energy ecosystem.
We are proud of our reputation for being excellent partners with our entrepreneurs. With each investment, in addition to capital, we bring the value of our experience and deep network to help companies achieve their goals. We excel at working with start-ups, as well as providing guidance and mentoring when asked.
Typically we work and invest alongside other angel groups, individual investors and venture capital firms. To date, CEVG partners have invested in over 60 climate tech companies and has had a number of successful exits.
CEVG partners are deeply committed to and involved in the clean energy ecosystem and serve on boards and as advisors to organizations in the clean energy and sustainability sectors. We are also frequently mentors in incubator programs and judges in climate-related business plan competitions.
Our affiliated fund, Clean Energy Ventures (CEV), brings additional capital and expertise to our portfolio companies. Created in 2017 by several CEVG partners, CEV is currently managing the firm’s first $110M venture. CEVG partners work closely in sourcing, scouting and diligencing deals. CEVG often co-invests and collaborates with the Fund to support entrepreneurs as they grow their business.
Nearly 20 years ago, a group of investors, including energy executives and successful entrepreneurs, came together to explore how to combat climate change. These founding members created CEVG to support start-ups that could help to accelerate a clean energy transition with novel and impactful technologies and services.
Over time, CEVG has attracted like-minded partners and invested in many emerging companies.
